This month we are taking a glimpse what’s currently going on in the Shed.

The Stickmakers have wound up for the summer season with several of the members displaying their current works at a number of Stick Making events either side of the Border, including the Royal Highland Show.

For some time we have had an aquarium adding  life, colour and a calming effect to the communal room. Bob is looking into expanding it to a 6 ft tank to increase the space to hold more tropical and other fish.

Debbie and Sue are currently making twiddle-muffs for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia, while Margaret and Debbie have been working with the card-making group on a Thursdays. They have been sorting out donated stock and learning to make trifle and pop up cards.

Stuart has just completed a stunning inlay table made from scrap pieces of wood.

Dominic has produced a number of Airfix and other model aeroplanes: They are highly detailed and include a Mk1 Hurricane, aHandley Page Hamden, and a Typhoon.

John has been working on a series of plaques for Volunteers Week for the Borders. Gordon and Brian have been producing a number of wood turned items which have recently appeared in the Ancrum Arts Fair.

Myself and Rupert are making 3 un-commissioned  bar stools for a local pub as the current options leave us feeling like small children at a high table.

The E Bikes have several applications in, interest is growing, two are currently on loan as we go to press.

This are a few examples of the numerous activities going on in the Shed on a daily basis. If you want to do make or learn something,  the Shed is a resource you can tap into to help you on your way. Membership is free.
