Socialising

This is the most important room and the first one you encounter when coming into the shed. It is a large comfortable area with tea & coffee making facilities, sofas, tables and chairs enabling members to chat and socialise

It also hosts our Library of books, CD’s, Video’s for sale or use by members, and our retail shop.

In the woodworking workshop we have a large range of machinery and tools.

  • A Laguna Table saw capable of cutting up to 2440mm x 1220 mm sheets
  • A Panel Saw capable of cutting up to 2440mm x 1220mm
  • A large chop/mitre saw
  • 2 off band saws , the largest has a 14” throat
  • A CNC Router with a bed size of 1400mm x 800mm
  • A normal router table
  • An Axminster Thickness / planner up to 12” width
  • An Axminster Spindle moulder
  • 3 off woodworking lathes
  • A Belt and disc sander
  • An oscillating belt sander
  • Various size pillar drills
  • A Mortice machine

We also have a large range of electrical hand tools from drill, jig saws, circular saws, biscuit jointer, routers, sanders, planes, etc and all the normal hand tools.

In the metal working area we have:-Metal working lathe

  • Specialist chisel sharping machine

We are in the process of setting up a welding bay with a Flux cored MIG welder, an MMA welder and a spot welder.

Upstairs we have an area for painting set out with easels and tables. The light upstairs is better than the light downstairs, which is why the art room is located on the first floor.

There is a potters’ wheel and we have clay ready to make some wonderful bowls. We also have a kiln, but that has not yet been wired up as we are investigating the power supply to run it!

We have a wide range of craft and card making equipment and supplies.

We have various computers and laptops all running windows 10 with fibre broadband

A high definition scanner which also scans 35 mm slides.
A 3D Printer
A large high quality colour printer which will print up to A1 (24″ by 36″) on paper, card, art paper or canvas.

A large model railway layout in 00 gauge, a model railway in 4mm scale, and running an N gauge railway layout
Dolls house building and painting
Reed weaving equipment
Electronic components, test equipment etc.
A dedicated clean painting area where items can be painted etc.
A wide range of chalk paints, varnishes, wood treatments and waxes, various other paints.
